India ranks fifth amongst the wind energy producing
countries of the world after Germany, Spain, USA and China.
On shore wind power potential in India has been assessed at
45000 MW.
Exhaustive wind resource assessment has been carried
out in more than 555 stations spread over 20 States
in the country. Around 221 Wind Monitoring stations
have indicated wind power density of more than 200 W/m2
at 50 m above
