  The most prominent feature of the wind climatology in India is monsoon circulations . Winds in India are influenced by the southwest summer monsoon, which starts in May-June, when cool humid air moves towards the land and Northeast winter monsoon which starts in October, when cool dry air moves towards the ocean. 
 
    Power scenario in India
Total Installed Capacity  - 1362 MW in 1947.
Present Installed Capacity - Approximately 152148 MW (August 2009).
Planned Capacity  by 2020 - Around 240000 MW 
Additional Capacity being added  annually  - Around 10000 MW.
